Practicing, studying or having coffee with sage and gifted Laura Tulumbas is always an honor and a privilege. Her forthright, direct and generous manner are rivaled only by the depth and scope of her knowledge and wisdom. Her instruction, always vibrant and clear, unequivocally opens doors and windows for her students, enabling individual journeys which resonate in every aspect of daily life.
Laura has an amazing ability to connect to what you need. She has so many different wellness strategies and combines them all to help you find the right path. There are no words to describe how doing Reiki with her healed me, it was just amazing.
I started practicing yoga at age 40, a time when my body, mind and heart were all in very rough shape after years of abuse and/or neglect. In the beginning, Laura came to my home and worked with me one-on-one at least 3 times a week, taking me through my very first attempts at asana, pranayama, and meditation. I gradually began not only gaining strength, flexibility and balance, but also a level of body awareness I had never thought possible. Her work with me transformed me from the inside-out, and from the outside-in.
Since then, I received my teacher training certification with Laura and her colleagues at Twisted Trunk Yoga (June, 2014). I host small yoga workshops while touring the world as the front man from the musical group Crash Test Dummies, and have made two recordings of ancient Sanskrit mantra wed to modern Western music. I continue to take Laura’s classes, and owe to her the very foundation of all my current yogic knowledge.
Laura is truly a healer. She can “see” and has the capacity to make it relatable. She is very honest and caring. Reiki is an art as well as a skill and there are few people who really have this gift.
Laura’s extensive knowledge in yoga enables her to bring a completely personalized approach to your practice. Having done both pre-natal and post-natal work with Laura, she has helped me to find calm and new strength at very different points throughout the winding road of pregnancy and motherhood. Working with Laura, I always leave a session feeling more uplifted and inspired.
There is no need for music in Laura’s yoga classes because Laura herself is the music. She sings the embattled body open and delivers it to finding new forms of grace. In Laura’s classes, the journey inward becomes a sweet and sultry endeavor. Laura provides a framework for accessing this journey on and off the mat, assuredly reminding us that it can always be revisited, that we are constantly evolving. The energy Laura offers through her hands is life affirming and clear. My throat chakra in particular expresses great gratitude to Laura for opening, clarifying, and empowering it.
